I got my iPad 2 as a tool for researching my dissertation, and had shopped around quite extensively for a case/keyboard that will both function well and not hinder the portability of the iPad, since I’m gearing up for an extended stay in Germany to continue my research. As this case is made for the iPad 2, it holds the device snugly and has cut-outs for the home button, camera, and side volume and mute controls. The bluetooth keyboard connects very easily and, as one would expect, is somewhat smaller than a laptop-sized keyboard. Even still, adjusting to the smaller keys (and somewhat distant right-side shift key) has been no problem. The keyboard can even switch between international keyboards, in my case English and German, just like the Macbook does (command + space). Additionally, the case is equipped with magnets to hold the keyboard in place, hold the closing flap in place, and to put the iPad to sleep when teh case is closed, just like the Apple-designed cover. The issues with this case are few, but noteworthy. When closed, the keyboard presses directly onto the iPad screen, so I would recommend getting a screen protector (the ones made by Zagg are excellent). When the iPad is in the case, there is a small flap that folds around the top of the iPad to ensure that the device does not slip out the top, however, this flap covers the microphone, which will require the owner to move the flap should s/he need to record audio or use an app like Skype. All that being said, I’m definitely glad I purchased this case and would recommend it enthusiastically. It’s not perfect, but for the price and my requirements of use, this cover can’t be beat.

I just purchased my first Ipad 2 &, although I am computer literate, I’m new to the whole Ipod, Ipad, Iphone way of life. I wasn’t too keen on using the screen to type so I went looking for a keypad case. Many were much higher in price & I wasn’t sure that I wanted to spend that much. The Poetic KeyBook has great features that I am excited about. For starters, the bluetooth keyboard is easily removable from the case. I can keep the keyboard at home & take the Ipad 2 in the car for the kids to use without worrying about what they might do to the keyboard. I looked at other keyboards which had a rubber coating because I was concerned that the keys might scratch the Ipad screen. I didn’t really want rubber keys & the Keybook has harder plastic keys. Turns out that the frame around the Ipad keeps the keys away from the screen so there is no worry about anything scratching. The stitching is sturdy & the holes are in all the right places for the Ipad 2. The bluetooth is easy to connect to the Ipad. The keyboard itself is the smaller, notebook style so it took a little time to get used to typing, but after a few minutes, I was on my way. The only downside I had to the Keybook is that the keyboard needs to be recharged and does not come with a charger. For now I’m using the charger that comes with the Ipad. I wish I would have known that I needed a charger so I could have purchased it at the same time I purchased the Keybook. I would recommend the KeyBook to anyone who wants a great little keyboard at a reasonable price.
